Sweet Briar Flowers
Roe Pearly Doll
Roe Pearly Doll
This seedling has quietly grown into one of my absolute favorites. In its third season now, it continues to surprise me in the best way.
It’s a child of Kelgai Anne, and you can definitely see the family resemblance as far as color but not so much on the form. Early in the season, it shows more pink like mom, but as the temps cool, it looses the bright pink and shifts into this soft, romantic blush that makes Kelgai Anne such a standout. It has carved out its own identity—- familiar, but just different enough to make you look twice.
Quick stats:
- Height: 5–6 ft (grown close—about 12” spacing)
- Strong, upright stems
- Super floriferous
- Bloom size: 3–4”
- Form could be formal decorative but it will not win you awards at the show
- Definitely a cut flower and not a show flower
My friend Pana from The Bloom Conservatory is growing this dahlia and he got to name it Roe Pearly Doll because he says the color reminds him of pearls.
